It's no secret that New York City is an extreme place, so it's only natural that our trends, moods, and aesthetics can go from white to black in an instant. This is particularly true post-Labor Day, when the fashions of fall have been at our fingertips for the past four weeks and we're craving something cashmere.

The fact that I wear black nine months out of the year is the reason I won't think twice when I put on a pastel palette polkadot and print dress during the summer months. The freedom of throwing on a shift dress sans hose is one of the most covetable, and possibly taken for granted, assets of warm weather, but F/W 2013 has some gorgeous gems under its lamb and leather layered sleeves that will make snowy nights seem much more appealing.

All month we will be featuring our favorite trends for fall and coordinating picks from INA's continuously growing fall collection.

The first, Fall of the Future.

Here's a look at how the fabrics, prints, and hues came together on the runway.

Punk influences, an angsty androgyny, and contemporary classics gone grayscale all set a dark tone for the fall, but color isn't the only thing connecting the collections. Textiles interacted with the darkness to create futuristic feels. Whether a more synthetic approach utilizing mesh, patent leather and synthetics or a natural feel with overdyed and treated linens, horn details and silk sheer cutouts, there's no arguing that these looks are propelling us into another time and place.

A highlight of power plays on the runway in Menswear for Fall/Winter 2013.

Fall for men at Ina has begun and has plenty of powerful looks to offer. The US size 34 Dior Homme classic leather jacket seen below showcases one of the softest leathers I have ever felt along with a narrow cut, perfect to be shared among spouses. A black cotton adjustable cowl neck pullover, shown below by Helmut Lang, is a versatile wardrobe staple to wear under a blazer, leather jacket, or alone as an outwear option.

Followers of such brands as Damir Doma, Lost and Found, Carpe Diem, Rick Owens Julius and Ann Demeulemeester will find themselves in second-hand heaven this month at Ina. Our Men's location at 19 Prince St. is fully stocked with recent pieces from covetable menswear designers known for their outstandingly well-crafted small batch garments. Head to toe looks are available for the fully committed, or throw on one of the expertly tailored trenches or blazers with your everyday ensemble for a more subtle statement.
