This season is anything but boring and mundane. Dramatic at it's best, it's about cascading velvet, gold encrusted jackets, and brocade-everything while adorned in jewels head to toe. Looking more like it belongs on the throne of a European monarchy rather than the city streets, unless your title is Daphne Guiness or Anna Del Russo (cheers) this is one aesthetic that should be tread carefully. It's easy to come off costum-ey when combining more than one of these elements. If you're going Baroque, extravagant details should be paired down with simple, modern elements. Leather pants with shrunken brocade jackets, black ankle boots with draped velvet, encrusted bustiers with swinging mini skirts and tights are all things to be considered. But of course, when in doubt, go McQueen.
